Sandalwood cannot be separated from India, the place of its origin: there it is processed into incense, fragrant carvings and Essential Oil. Genuine, pure sandalwood oil is sold at state-run auctions. PRIMAVERA LIFE obtains pure, unadulterated Agmarked or Mysore quality from this source. In addition to Indonesia, India is the main producer and accounts for 90% of the total quantity of Sandalwood produced worldwide, particularly in the areas of Karnataka and Tamilnadu. The greater part of Sandalwood is consumed in India itself. The oil content amounts to about 4% in the heart wood and about 6% in the roots. There are several varieties of Sandalwood available:
Unbranded oil: an oil without a special brand that is used in India in the cosmetics industry.
Branded oil: part of which is also exported.
Agmarked: This is the quality PRIMAVERA LIFE offers. Agmarked quality is a tested, very high quality most of which is intended for export and corresponds to the Indian standard 329 which stipulates a santalol content of 90%. With a view to stopping widespread smuggling of Sandalwood and Sandalwood products, export has become subject to stringent control and, by means of licenses, traders are obliged to document the origin of the sandalwood they deal in. Mysore products are the most sought after quality which is hardly obtainable on the market any more.
Scent: balancing, sensuously inspiring, harmonizing, warming, regenerating in the case of
depression and cramps.
Use: In the diffuser, in gentle facial and body oils, for massage oils and a relaxing bath, for
compresses, for floral and oriental perfumes.
